The rising prevalence of environmental hazards and childhood obesity associated with serious medical complications and economic costs signals a need for evidence-based intervention programs. This session will present four community based programs for addressing obesity and indoor environmental hazards in child care settings. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session participants will be able to: 1. identify and discuss 5 health and safety hazards that put children in child care at risk. 2. discuss the components of developing a childhood obesity program for implementation within a primary care setting. 3. identify diferences in prevalence of overweight among infants by age at initiating non- parental child care. 4. identify appropriate outcome measures for a community based program for childhood overweight. | |||
