Public health leaders must understand and deal with the complex public health challenges of new and emerging infectious diseases, injury risks, health effects of terrorism, and shifts in economic trends. This session focus on designing effective partnerships for leadership development and preparing public health practitioners for new and/or changing leadership roles. Moreover, the session will demonstrate how public health nurses are developing leadership skills in public health preparedness. Last, in discussing successful leadership development strategies, the outcomes of research on technology to increase access to leadership and management development will be presented. | |||
Learning Objectives: 1. Outline the major challenges for collaborative leadership development initiatives between public health institutions and schools of public health 2. Learn about the methods and achievement in leadership training for public health nurses 3. List the benefits of using multiple and complementary learning methods in a public health leadership development program 4.
