Making Health A Priority In Environmental Protection
This session presents innovative work in law, health advocacy, and economic development that promote health in environmental policies and decision-making. Using an environmental protection framework, presenters will provide in-depth examples of the use of legal tools, public health analysis and an understand of economic development decision-making to protection human and environmental health.
Learning Objectives: 1. To provide an understanding of the United States' legal obligation and limitations to uphold health as a fundamental human right that extends to environmental conditions. 2. To describe, using case studies, the role of health professionals in increasing awareness of environmental health policies that can be achieved by diverse collaborations. 3. To analyze the impact of economic development on environmental public health and present recent EPA initiatives that ensure that health and environmental goals are met.
