Oral
Cancer Communication and Diverse Populations
Health promotion and education campaigns designed to provide information about cancer prevention and control contain important information, but if they are not designed appropriately for the audiences they address, they will fail. The panelists in this session will describe several different programs for particular communities, and the challenges and lessons learned from these programs. Speakers will highlight issues in communication with rural populations, Hispanic/Latino communities, and other underserved audiences.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  1. Identify factors that impact the development and delivery of effective health information and communication to specific populations; and
  2. Describe interventions designed to provide cancer information to rural, Hispanic/Latino, and other underserved populations.
