Breastfeeding and Infant Nutrition Practices
Three breastfeeding support models will be presented, including both professional and peer support programs. The quality of that support can be measured by such instruments as data bases maintained by individual programs, state data collection programs. Each of these methods will be discussed.
Learning Objectives: 1.Describe the breastfeeding patterns among Somali immigrant women in Minneapolis. 2.Discuss the impact of HIV and concern regarding MTCT on breastfeeding in Africa. 3.Describe the effect of peer counselors on breastfeeding among mothers of preterm infants.
