Achieving optimal health and quality of life for all populations in the U.S is contingent on our collective efforts toward to achieve the Healthy People 2010 goal of eliminating health disparities. The purpose of this session is to examine local, state, and federal research efforts to identify the determinants that drive health disparities and the strategies and practices that can eliminate them. This session will help chart a course for action for support and collaboration on a coordinated national agenda to eliminate health disparities in the twenty-first century. | |||
Learning Objectives: 1. Describe local, state, and federal efforts to develop a research agenda for health disparities elimination; Describe determinants of health disparities and research needs; 2. Underscore the need to move from multidisciplinary to transdisciplinary research; Describe steps one should take to contribute to health disparities elimination efforts; Discuss strategies and recommendations for future efforts. | |||
