Avedis Donabedian Award in Quality Improvement Session

Patient safey has become major issue in health care deliver Dr. Tejal Gandhi is a leading contributor to the field and will be honored and deliver the annual Donabedian lecture. Addtional comments and presentation from Dr. Patricia Byrne (chair Quality Improvement Committee of Medical Care Section) and Dr. Gordon Schiff (Chair Elect of Medical Care Section and Chair Avedis Donabedian Award Committee of APHA)

Learning Objectives: 1. Summarize inpatient and outpatient patient safety activities and lessons from Brigham and Women's Hospital 2. Draw on conceptual ideas of Dr. Avedis Donabedian to broaden our understanding and context of patient safety work 3. Discuss recent and current innovation projects, particulalry using information technology and electronic order entry with decison support, to improve patient safety and quality. 4. Present Donabedian Award to Dr. Tejal Gandhi and highlight her contributions to quality and patient safety
