In this session, the learner will see posters on a wide variety of infectious diseases. These diseases include measles, influenza, chicken pox, food-borne pathogens, tuberculosis, HIV, and malaria. Other topics include prevalence determination for multiple sclerosis in small communities and bioterrorism preparedness continuing education programs. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) will be able to: 1. Understand factors affecting low measles immunization coverage in Akita, Japan 2. To examine responses to a new question on the National Health Interview Survey regarding receiving a flu vaccination via nasal spray 3. Evaluate varicella control strategies in a jail population in the context of a current outbreak experience 4. Describe laboratory testing practices for Escherichia coli 0157/STEC in North Carolina as well as its importance 5. Identify the important factors for TB successful treatment as well as case management 6. Identify deficiencies in diagnosis and reporting practices of food-borne disease among clinical laboratories in North Carolina 7. get up-to-date information on the molecular level research carried out on ethnic resistant genes among Nepalese ethnic groups against malaria and HIV infections 8. Describe an outbreak investigation from a local health department perspective 9. Discuss methods to determine the prevalence of multiple sclerosis in small communities 10. Articulate the steps involved in partnership development for a statewide bioterrorism preparedness continuing education program | |||
