In this session the learner will hear about studies on chronic diseases, including a case-control study on colorectal cancer, a study on breast cancer among women in urban areas, and a county level analysis on prostate cancer. Racial disparities in chronic diseases will be addressed in several talks. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Discuss the effects of meat consumption and cooking methods on risk of colorectal cancer 2. Identify the associations between length of time in the U.S. and prevalence of chronic diseases and health behaviors in Asian immigrants. 3. Discuss the role of cigarette smoking on the etiology of renal cell carcinoma, and its effect modification with respect to agent orange. 4. Characterize African American women who live in areas with high risk for breast cancer, with regard to their demographic, psychosocial, cancer risk behavior profiles. 5. Describe characteristics of adults who had CJS 6. Describe the relationship between reproductive history and the risk of endometrial cancer. 7. Recognize the public health importance of investigating racial differences related to breast cancer risk among rural women in Georgia. 8.
