Background: CDC’s Nutrition and Physical Activity Program to Prevent Obesity and Other Chronic Diseases advises states to use the Community Guide Recommendations, AHRQ recommendations, and promising nutrition strategies for obesity prevention and control. Sixteen states with physical activity interventions used the Community Guide Recommendations Social Support Interventions and School-Based Physical Education most often in the six months ending December 2004. Individually Adapted Health Behavior Change Program and Creation of Enhanced Access to places to be physically active were strategies often in the field, whereas Community-Wide Campaigns and Community-Scale Urban Land Policies were strategies used by one state each in the six month period. States with nutrition interventions that target individual behavior that incorporate the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Recommendations most often used Interactive Activities Involving Food and Goal Setting. Nineteen states most often used fruit and vegetable policy changes. | |||
