Bioterrorism and public health emergencies preparedness training is vital in educating future health care professionals (The Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002 P. L. 107- 188). As such, the objective for this project was to educate undergraduate public health students in bioterrorism and other public health emergencies. A pre-post test design was used to educate 210 undergraduate students from the larger Nursing, Public Health and Psychology Curriculum Enhancement Initiative (NPPECI). Undergraduate health care faculty engaged in a week-long intensive workshop that addressed bioterrorism and other public health emergencies. At the end of the workshop syllabi were revised to include bioterrorism and other public health emergencies relevant content. Undergraduate students were then educated using the revised curricula. Interventions included Center of Public Health Preparedness University of Albany School of Public Health training modules, and classroom didactics. Public health students' knowledge mean score on the pre-test was 55.979 +/- 14.0827 and post- test 92.279 +/- 13.301. Further evaluation of student knowledge occurred after a multidiscipline undergraduate training simulation held spring 2005. This undertaking was funded by a Louisiana Board of Regents Grant.
