In this dynamic interactive session we will address career questions and conundrums facing public health education specialists today. We will reveal the raw reality of contemporary employer and employee relationships and the implications for how we nurture others, look for work, and build careers. We will explore what to look for and look out for when considering working with career/life coaches to help us achieve the joy and balance we seek but don't always achieve. We will consider the concept of career life cycles, where we are in ours, and if we like the row (rut?) we seem to be hoeing. We will review conventional professional opportunities, discuss the need and ways to blaze new paths into nontraditional health education areas, and consider where outside our profession we might apply our health education skills and experiences should we ever hit a ”glass ceiling" or cement wall. Throughout the session we will provide specific Career Miracle Grow tips, tools, and techniques for nurturing our own, and, if we so chose, our successors' careers. A down and “dirty” Miracle Career Grow handout also will be provided.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to
