Roger Gibson, MPH, Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, PO Box 570, Jefferson City, MO 6519, 573-526-5282, roger.gibson@dhss.mo.gov

The purpose of this institute is present an integrated linking EPHT demonstration project to show what needs to be in place to implement similar systems. The presentation will focus on timing, process, personnel needed, team work, lessons learned, and infrastructure development.

MOHSAIC (Missouri Health Strategic Architectures and Information Cooperative) includes a transactional application that provides a centralized and integrated database for the entry, update, and retrieval of information from a client-centered record. It is a population-based registry containing a record for all children born in Missouri since January 1, 1994. All services the child receives (WIC, immunizations, etc.) will be available for cross-reference and assurance of current data quality and automatic interface with Department of Social Services Medicaid registry. Integrated demographic, address, contact and testing information assure a comprehensive health profile.

The implementation allows local public health agencies, program managers and healthcare providers to identify which children have been tested, those that need testing, and assure case management and environmental assessment for those that have had an elevated blood lead level. This information will be available statewide, whether the child moves from one area of the state to another. The staged implementation process was completed by May 31, 2005.
