Successful workplace investigations and intervention studies depend on gaining access to individuals representing various perspectives on issues of workplace conditions and health and safety. Our work among health care and social service workers over the past decade has taught us that project outcomes are enhanced when genuine partnerships among labor, management, workers and investigators can be achieved. This panel will describe a series of workplace investigations and research projects from the perspective of a journalist, union, management, and researcher. Presenters will discuss the experiences investigating the health care work environment through the voice of nurses and administrators as well as a tripartite workplace intervention evaluation to prevent violence in the social service workplace from the perspective of the various partners. Challenges of working with multiple partners with competing interests and goals will also be addressed.
Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to describe a tripartite research model and identify three components of a successful multiple partner workplace intervention project.
