Vaccine Preventable Disease Epidemiology
This interesting international session will focus on the epidemiology of vaccine preventable diseases. Diseases to be discussed include influenza, rubella, and Hepatitis B. Presentations will include experiences in the United States (civilian and military), El Salvador, and Mongolia. In addition, presentations will discuss immunization practice barriers in rural areas as well as whether multiple near-concurrent vaccination is associated with adverse health outcomes
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Identify ethnic disparities in the prevalence of flu shot avoidance 2. Compare and contrast various approaches to the prevention of Rubella and Congenital Rubella Syndrome 3. Develop a strategy for assessing the risk of adverse health outcomes and receipt of multiple near-concurrent vaccination 4. Discuss the urban-rural differences in the effectiveness of national vaccination program against hepatitis B 5. Describe rural family medicine and pediatric child immunization practice differences
