Worksites provide important venues for health promotion activities, and the speakers in this session will describe various health promotion programs that have been implemented in worksites. In addition, speakers will describe the impact of physical activity programs on worker health and discuss healthy eating initiatives focused on workplaces. The presentations will include discussions of the health education implications of worksite health promotion activities. A presenter will discuss the development of a toolkit designed to promote coverage for preventive services and comprehensive policy and system changes to prevent heart disease and stroke. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1.List some of the most promising policy and system interventions and practices in worksites and health care settings to prevent heart disease and stroke. 2.Describe various programs designed to increase physical activity and improve nutrition in a worksite setting. 3.Discuss some possible difficulties in developing an academic-worksite partnership. | |||
