The influences of mass media and marketing strategies have a tremendous impact on consumer spending, people’s beliefs, and voting. This session discusses the potential of mass media and marketing strategies on public health. Presenters will discuss future opportunities for such public health marketing, as well as health marketing strategies that are already being used. The session includes presentations on CDC projects to disseminate evidence-based HIV prevention interventions into public health practice. Also included is a presentation on the use of marketing and communications in a sexual violence prevention campaign. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Articulate the relevance and potential of marketing and communications for public health organizations. 2. Discuss how the power of marketing and communications can be further leveraged for public health. 3. Describe two examples to learn about the details of social marketing campaigns. | |||
