Technology is playing an increasingly more important role in health promotion practice. In this session speakers will address the use of technology in training in the emerging field of informatics and in training medical volunteers for homeland security. The session will also include information about the use of GIS to inform decision-making in the allocation of cancer prevention and control resources, and the use of web conferencing technology for disseminating health information to large groups of individuals. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Recognize ways to enhance the capacity of local health agencies to function as learning organizations through novel and existing technologies. 2. Describe the use of web technology in public health training of large groups of individuals who are geographically distant from one another. 3. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the multitude of technological approaches. | |||
