a foundation of the coordinated school health model is the connections between schools, community agencies, public and private groups as well as the home to provide education, services and a health enhancing environment to students. This session will outline the components of the coordinated school health model and describe several projects including the collaboration between elementary schools and a junior high school to improve health and wellness of the students, the Michigan Healthy Community initiative for university students, grants to medically underserved and low income children in Georgia, and the collaboration between university students and local school system to monitor height and weight of students in Boston schools. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Identify basic components of the Coordinated School Health Model 2. Describe strategies to enhance partnerships between school districts, universities and public and private agencies to enhance the health of students 3. Describe the impact of these partnerships on the wellness of students | |||
