This session addresses policies and standards designed to enhance the health of school children. Presentations on the development of the National Health Education Standards, implications of the federal No Child Left Behind Act, guidance of CDC and the use of planning teams will all focus on strengthening Coordinated School Health Programs. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1.understand the new health education standards and the theory and research supporting them. 2.identify strategies by CDC to improve coordination of school health programs locally and at the state level. 3.identify ways school-based health planning teams have implemented components of the Coordinated School Health Model 4. Describe mechanisms by which the No Child Left Behind policy affects quality indicators of Coordinated School Health Porgrams. | |||
