The war in Iraq war has had a huge adverse effect on public health including civilians and military personnel. The purpose of this session is to provide opportunity for a follow-up discussion to a preceding session, Labor, the War in Iraq and Public Health (Session 4235.0: Tuesday, November 7, 2006: 2:30 PM-4:00 PM). The format of this session will be a moderated “Town Meeting.” The goal is to provide an opportunity for participants to discuss specific actions public health workers can take to prevent the detrimental impacts of the war on public health. These two sessions stem from a February 2006 event organized by the Department of Professional Employees, AFL-CIO in Washington DC regarding the health consequences of the Iraq War. The presentations from this event are available at: http://www.dpeaflcio.org/programs/lunch_and_learn.htm
Learning Objectives: At the end of this session participants will be able to identify specific actions public health workers can take to prevent the detrimental impacts of the war on public health.
