The prevalence of childhood obesity continues to rise with each new round of national nutrition monitoring and surveillance data, and the health risks to US children increase. Communities are developing innovative approaches to reach families to improve nutrition and physical activity behaviors in a variety of settings. This session will highlight some success stories and exciting experiments in community prevention efforts. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, participants will: 1. Be able to describe a variety of approaches to the prevention of childhood obesity in community settings. 2. Understand the need for collaboration and innovation in the development of community programs for obesity prevention. | |||
