In this presentation we will describe the development and characteristics of a comprehensive on-line data registry for normal birth and the midwifery model of care. The potential role of online data registries in studying normal birth, the midwifery model of care and the effect of specific interventions on outcomes will be discussed. We will present our experience with the AABC Uniform Data Set including a report on preliminary data and issues encountered in implementing the UDS and the strategies developed to resolve these issues.
