Diagnostic error is important, frequent, but understudied. This presentation focuses on ambulatory issues related to diagnostic error, harvested lesson of a 4 year AHRQ-funded project--The Cook County-Rush Developmental Center for Research in Patient Safety Diagnosis Error Evaluation and Research (DEER) Project. 3 models for better understanding diagnosis error and delay will be presented. A table summarizing key areas for improvement will be discussed in detail
