This session will discuss new information regarding current activities of NIEHS worker education and training program. The session will also discuss workplace violence in nursing personnel, and young worker's personal safety on the job. It will also discuss work-related fatal injuries from disasters and self reported injuries and neurological symptoms among military veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. Lastly, the session will include information about community-partnered response to IPV.
Session Objectives: 1. Learn about the current activities undertaken by the NIEHS WETP and their awardees in preparing workers involved in emergency response and recovery efforts for avian influenza 2. Describe independent variables associated with WPV and potential mediators and moderators of WPV such as social support and workplace response 3. Recognize the extent to which young workers are reporting threats to their personal safety while on the job.
