This session will discuss emerging data regarding the relationship between beliefs of workers and owners with regard to workplace safety in small metal manufacturing business. We will also discuss how antibacterial cleaning products may create health problems, and mapping safety interventions in small metalworking businesses. The session will also present on current gains and continuing hazards in the hospitality industry, as well as ways to reduce exposure to bloodborne pathogens in home care. Lastly, this session will discuss documenting industry-wide health, safety and environmental conditions for bargaining and policy-making.
Session Objectives: 1. List three factors that influence the development of a safer work practices in a small business
2. Identify hazardous ingredients in antibacterial/disinfectant products.
3. Identify health and safety problems associated with their use in the workplace
4. Describe effective partnerships for implementing and sustaining health and safety training programs
