3446.0 Global Experiences with the Non-pneumatic Anti-Shock Garment: A New First Aid Device for Saving Mothers' Lives from Obstetric HemorrhageMonday, November 5, 2007: 8:30 PM
Panel Discussion
Pilot studies and qualitative formative research on the introduction of the Non-pneumatic Anti-Shock Garment (NASG) holds great promise for decreasing maternal mortality and morbidity due to obstetric hemorrhage in resource constrained environments. Each panelist/presenting author will discuss their experience of integration of this new technology into various international health systems and its implications.
Session Objectives: Describe the importance of obstetric hemorrhage as a cause of maternal mortality and morbidity in low-resource settings.
Identify the potential contribution of the non-pneumatic anti-shock garment (NASG) to reducing death and disability from obstetric hemorrhage.
Discuss mechanisms of action for the NASG.
Recognize potential policy implications for the introduction of the NASG into Safe Motherhood programs.
