3330.0 Annual Exploration of Injury Data Issues

This session will continue the tradition of the past decade of APHA meetings, where members discuss current issues in injury data. The following topics will be discussed at length: 1) operationalizing definitions from Healthy People 2010, 2) new features of WISQARS, 3) accurately defining poisonings, and 4) the work of ISW5 in updating the STIPDAGreen book on injury surveillance.
Session Objectives: 1. Describe current challenges in collecting, managing, and sharing data on injuries. 2. Describe new features of the CDC’s WISQARS web-based application. 3. Describe nuances of classifying poisonings.
