Leaders in the field will present their work on the relationship between traumatic experiences and mental health distress and disorders.
Session Objectives: After attending this session, learners will be able to articulate the need for multi-agency involvement to support children after violent deaths, describe the relationship between violent crime and PTSD, and identify intervention needs, evaluate psychometric instruments for determining PTSD in a self-report survey, and strategize about how to integrate psychosocial assessment early in a diagnostic evaluation so that emotional and physical distress may be minimized.
