The session is to examine the unique challanges invovled in providing appropriate diabetic foot care, particularly in underserved area world wide. Information from doctors involved in medical missions or humanitarian efforts can be reviewed to identify and improve future projects. Also, the stimulation of development of new projects may result from these presentations.
A review of the podiatry manpower situation in the United States and its potential impact on foot care and foot health particularly in relation to people with diabetes.
Session Objectives: 1. Recognize the importance of diabetic foot care in at risk population groups.
2. Discuss programs in medical missions and the challanges unique to people with diabetes and foot care in these population groups.
3. Analyze the podiatry manpower issues in the United States.
