3178.0 Risk behaviors and health promotion in context: school, family and physician's officeMonday, October 27, 2008: 12:30 PM
Poster
This poster session includes a broad range of current research on adolescent risk behaviors and health promotion in a variety of settings. The posters explore the relationships between school and family factors (such as school connectedness, academic failure, agressive behavior, parent relationship quality, perception of parenting) and health behaviors and outcomes (such as depression, agressive behavior, early sexual debut, teen pregnancy and parenting, injury, and sexually transmitted diseases). Health promotion interventions in schools, after school programs and clinical settings are covered.
Session Objectives: 1. Discuss ways in which clinical settings can maximize opportunities for health promotion with adolescents.
2. Identify family, school and neighborhood determinants of adolescent health outcomes, such as early sexual debut, depression and seat belt use.
3. Articulate relationships between school factors, family factors, and adolescent behavior.
