This session includes presentations on current student research. Topics include microconstituents in wastewater, maternal and child health intervention on the poor, early childhood asthma, and emergency obstetric care system.
Session Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) will be able to: 1. List three emerging water pollutants of concern; 2. Assess the effectiveness of the World Bank as a force for improving access to maternal and child health care among the poor; 3. Identify the impact of infection/inflammation at the maternal-fetal interface, chorioamnionitis, on the development of childhood asthma; and 4. Describe interventions which can dramatically and rapidly avert maternal mortality and morbidity in developing countries.
