4034.2 Collaboration Among Sections, SPIGs, Forums, Caucuses and HIIT to Achieve Equity (Town Hall Meeting) Part I

Public health informatics is the use of information technology and its application to support public health practice, decision-making, education, management, and research. Public health informatics requires the application of knowledge from numerous disciplines and its practice must incorporate knowledge from the other fields that contribute to public health. Representatives from Epidemiology, International Health, and Public Health Nursing Section; Alternative and Complementary Health Practices and Ethics SPIGS; Vietnam Caucus; Family Violence Prevention and Genomics Forums have agreed to participate with the Health Informatics Information Technology (HIIT) SPIG in a Town Hall meeting on "Collaborations to Achieve Equity." Ms. Frances Atkinson, Director of Component Affairs has been invited to speak on this program.
Session Objectives: 1. Identify the current advancement in health informatics and information technology for health equity. 2. Understand the application of information technology in clinical and public health settings for health equity. 3. Discuss their information technology needs to achieve health equity. 4. Emphasize the importance of collaboration with health information technology professionals for health equity.
