We offer details of our community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach (Research-Action Project or "RAP") that engages workers and others in all research stages. RAP elements include: strategically constructed teams with knowledge of the industry and health and safety and with skills in research, participatory facilitation, and training; reciprocal training on these knowledge and skill areas; iterative processes of large and small group work; use of technology; and facilitator-developed tools and intermediate products.

Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss the 5 central components to the RAP approach: team roles based on expertise; reciprocal training; iterative processes of large and small group work; strategic use of technology; and facilitator-developed tools and intermediate products. 2. Assess key considerations for replicating all or part of this model such as overall design and team member resources.
