Tuesday, November 10, 2009: 12:30 PM
Panel Discussion
The global economic crisis has dramatically affected the priorities of public health. This was most recently seen in the passage of the economic stimulus package in the US in which monies were allocated to boost, among other things, health-related research. These student presentations examine the impacts of this funding as well as other economic-related health issues around the world. Following the presentations, the student presenters along with professionals will engage in a panel discussion on the economy and it's role in public health issues.
Session Objectives: Explain the impacts of economic forces on public health initiatives. Analyze sociocultural issues related to the global economic crisis.
