2046.1 From Menstruation to Menopause: Women’s Health Across the LifespanSunday, November 8, 2009: 2:30 PM
Poster
The purpose of this poster session is to explore current research and prevention programming on women’s health issues across the lifespan. This session will focus on a wide variety of health, as well as reproductive health issues facing women today. This session will delve into the commonalities and the differences that occur among women of differing ages, race and ethnicities, or life experiences within the framework of women’s health. It is important not to categorize women's perceptions of the health issues they face as all being the same, but to recognize the nuances in the health experiences of women across time and place and to incorporate these nuances into prevention programming.
Session Objectives: 1. Compare interventions to reduce high risk and early sexual behaviors among young women.
2. Discuss differences and similarities in the experience of menopause among different races and ethnicities.
3. Describe ways in which health systems may be more responsive to gender-based perceptions of health and disease states.
