Oral health disparities among vulnerable groups is a concern of dental public health programs at the national, state,and local levels. This session will identify factors related to oral health status and barriers to accessing dental care. Also, the session will discuss successful programs and policies that expand access to dental care and promote oral health for children and adults.
Session Objectives: 1. Discuss the oral health provisions in the 2009 Reauthorization for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). 2. Describe prevention and access programs that reach vulnerable children and adults in communities. 3. Identify disparities in oral health status and access to care among children.
