4081.2 How to Navigate the Continuing Education (CE) Seas

Tuesday, November 10, 2009: 10:30 AM
This session will focus on resources for obtaining CE and will include four overarching CE themes: faculty development approaches, accessing essential resources, competency development and providing guidance and mentoring at the systems level. Presenters will be selected to cover these themes from three approaches, disciplinary specific APHA CE (e.g., nursing) and non-APHA CE (e.g., dentistry, optometry, social work), public health agency accreditation (e.g., PHAB) and public health and health professioanl school and program-sponsored CE. The target audience will include stakeholders of the CE process at the system level such as CE planners and managers, workforce development individuals in state agencies, human resource personnel, and faculty development directors. A PowerPoint from this session and a potential commentary article will be produced and archived for access by the APHA community post the annual meeting.
