219084 PHRs for Individuals Affected by Traumatic Brain Injury: Privacy and Security ConcernsMonday, November 8, 2010
: 2:30 PM - 2:50 PM
EPHRs offer potential for improving the management and flow of personal health information by consumers. On the rise are efforts to promote the adoption of electronic personal health records to help consumers better track their health care experiences and information, empowering them to better coordinate their care across independent and fragmented service systems. While ePHRs can help facilitate provider and consumer decision-making, concerns about privacy and security issues often present barriers to adoption. This session will highlight key definitions, some perspectives on privacy and security issues associated with ePHRs, HIPPA and ePHRs, barriers and drivers to adoption as well as future directions.
