234128 Twitter Town Hall: Partner Engagement Successes for National HIV Testing Day

Background: In June of this year the CDC's National Prevention Information Network (NPIN) held CDCs first-ever Town Hall, via the popular social networking site Twitter, in preparation for National HIV Testing Day (NHTD). Panelists will share how the overall town hall goals of: Promoting partner awareness of and participation in NHTD activities, developing new relationships with participating partners, and building CDC's and NPIN's reach on this fast-growing social networking platform were met. Town Hall objectives included:

1. Increase partner conversations about NHTD on Twitter. 2. Offer partners new information and strategies for developing their NHTD activities. 3. Increase CDC's and NPIN's conversations with partners on Twitter and build followers. 4. Build capacity by sharing knowledge and know-how using this popular channel.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I direct the CDC NPIN contract as a Sr. Director with Danya International. In that capacity I lead the team that organized the first Twitter Town Hall ever done by CDC. The town hall brought together prevention partners of CDC in advance of National HIV Testing Day so that they could share ideas, connect with other prevention organizations and learn how to advance their events using social media.
