This session will review racial and ethnic differences in access to care and awareness of racial and ethnic disparities. Racial and ethnic disparities in health insurance coverage and access to care have been well documented and the affects of health inequity have been shown in the literature. This session will further elucidate the complex relationship of health insurance and access to care on racial and ethnic health disparities as well as provide an overview of awareness of racial and ethnic disparities.
Session Objectives: 1. Identify predictors of racial and ethnic disparities in mortality in U.S. adults.
2. Describe strategies to increase awareness of health and healthcare disparities among health system employees.
3. Identify current levels of racial and ethnic health disparities awareness among the general population.
