This session will focus on several aspects of quality of care in nursing home including impact of payment source on hospitalization risks among nursing home residents, nursing homes’ response to publication of the Nursing Home Compare report card, safe medication administration in nursing homes, contribution of race and payer source to nursing home quality of care, and barriers to nursing home discharge. These discussions will provide policy makers and researchers valuable information on ways to improve nursing home quality.
Session Objectives: 1. Investigate the impact of financial incentives on NH hospitalization decisions. 2. Describe the impact of the Nursing Home Compare report card. 3. Examine the influence of race and Medicaid payment on NH quality of care, analyzing influences at both the individual and facility levels.
