251195 Using the principles of health literacy to drive positive dietary behavior change

This session will provide an overview of health literacy principles, and a discussion of how those principles are being used by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to develop communication materials related to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2010. HHS' formative nutrition communications research among adults with limited health literacy will be described, along with HHS' Dietary Guidelines communication goals. Finally, examples of communication resources will be presented, as available.
