252055 Russian Nurses: From Home Visits to Alternative Medicine

Nursing in Russia is changing but still reflects their medical system which combines Western and Eastern medical practices. This presentation will discuss nursing in Russia in reference to home visits, health promotion and provision of alternative health care at clinics. Health promotion is new to nursing in Russia and its integration with Eastern and Western health care practices will be discussed. The challenges of providing diverse methods of health care will be addressed along with the benefits of providing holistic care that includes Western and Eastern practices. Nurses in the US will learn how nursing is provided in a country with varied health care practices.

1. Describe the health care practices of nurses in Russia 2. Explain the challenges of providing diverse methods of nursing care in Russia 3. Contrast the provision of holistic nursing care in Russia with that in the US.
