The Connecticut Department of Public Health piloted the newly introduced "Basic Screening Survey for Older Adults", a surveillance tool which will enable states to collect standardized oral health data on older adults. These essential data will provide the states with a true picture of the oral health status of our aging population, which will enhance policy making decisions and promote interventions for this growing population. This presentation will provide 1) an introduction to the Basic Screening Survey for Older Adults; 2) recommendations for successfully implementing the survey, and 3) potential interventions on a state-wide level to improve the oral health of older adults.
