Based upon the new book by Michael Pertschuk called “The DeMarco Factor,: Transforming Public Will Into Political Power,” this presentation will describe the successful public health campaigns discussed in the book to reduce teen smoking and gun violence and expand health care. With the book as a guide, the presentation will show how a well crafted plan to mobilize a broad based coalition, maximize earned media, and make public health measurers top election issues can overcome powerful vested interest opposition.
