This presentation will walk APHA leaders through the tools and resources, available on the APHA website, that provide all the information and assistance one needs to be an effective advocate for public health. Examples of previous member, affiliate, and coalition use of these tools will provide best practices guidance on how to nurture future policy and advocacy outreach with policy makers.
Learning Objectives: 1. Identify the advocacy and policy tools and resources available through APHA and partner organizations.
2. Describe successful advocacy efforts at the state and federal level from both the member and affiliate perspective.
3. Discuss best practices in advocacy efforts related to coalition building and direct policy-maker communication.
