This interesting session will examine relevant issues in social epidemiology. Specific talks will include: prioritizing Social Determinants to Promote Health Equity; how Long Term Injection Drug Users (IDUs) enhance injection safety within their networks; changes in the social gradient in tobacco use in Argentina; an exploration of discrimination and other predictors of patient satisfaction among African Americans in the Deep South; and an study on the interplay between social-structural conditions and self-esteem.
Session Objectives: Discuss approaches for prioritizing Social Determinants to Promote Health Equity. Describe how Long Term Injection Drug Users (IDUs) enhance injection safety within their networks. Explain changes in the social gradient in tobacco use in Argentina. Describe an exploration of discrimination and other predictors of patient satisfaction among African Americans in the Deep South. Understand the interplay between social-structural conditions and self-esteem.
