3007.0 Nailing Your Policy: Creating APHA's Policy Buddy System

Monday, October 31, 2011: 8:30 AM
The purpose of this session is to initiate the creation of a sustainable APHA peer policy development network. In an interactive peer-to-peer workshop, policy leaders in all APHA units (sections, caucuses, SPIGS) will learn how to use a roadmap to successful policy development and create policy resources "close to home". The overall goal is to develop the capacity within all APHA units to write strong, effective policies that will enable APHA to initiate, support and advocate proactively for key public health issues.
Session Objectives: 1) Describe the building blocks of an effective policy. 2) Identify success factors and pitfalls in developing a policy. 3) Implement a roadmap to create an effective APHA policy.
