This session will cover current topics in the epidemiology of viral hepatitis, including hepatitis A, B, and C. Papers discussed will talk about the need for vaccination against viral hepatitis among attendees of a methadone maintenance clinic, hepatitis C prevalence in New York state and across the United States, and hepatitis B prevalence and results of a national immunization program against hepatitis B in Mongolia.
Session Objectives: Learners will be able to: 1. Describe the prevalence of viral hepatitis 2. Articulate the need for vaccination against hepatitis A and B in a large methadone maintenance treatment program in New York City. 3. Evaluate the presented data on screening, diagnosis, and treatment in the commercially insured and Medicare populations. 4. Assess the impact of national immunization program against hepatitis B in Mongolia
